While everyone of course must make their own decision based upon their own
specific requirements, you might want to look at SPITBOL-386. While based on
the SNOBOL/SPITBOL language rather than Icon, it has many of the same features
(pattern matching, tables, dynamic typing, etc. etc.) and even a few very
interesting features which Icon does NOT have.
It's also fast as hell, *and* it can generate true .EXE files. :-)
